For his resort 2017 collection, Lorenzo Serafini went all in on the details. The dress alternates a striped fabric printed with a micro floral pattern and black lace, creating a patchwork of materials. With some tie-up details, the vintage-inspired layered dress looks like a mix of a 60s girl with some western influences. Ending over the wearer’s knee the midi-dress can be appropriately styled for basically any occasion.

Light blue was ubiquitous at the last fashion week. Kenzo used the cool hue as a base for an eclectic floral pattern. Added was embroidery anglaise for a playful note as well as a contrasting patterned strip of fabric in white and light blue for a coherent color-story. Two buttons at the front finish of the dress comfortable and easy-going dress.

Miu Miu excels in feminine and frivolous designs. This low-rise skirt is the epitome of the early oughts fashion. On an orange base flowers appear to be painted on with watercolor giving an abstract and artistic design to the clean lines of the skirt.

Ferragamo is a brand of juxtaposing attributes. On the one hand the very proper and conservative maker of staples for the aging upper class but as could be seen in the early oughts’ or the fall/winter 2023 runway the brand can also be for the fashion-forward. Like here: the idea of a matching belt and bag is very conservative but due to the pink and cream coloring in pony hair, the set gets a very different vibe. The typical circular Ferragamo hardware is seen as a blet buckle as well as on the bags strap, making sure the branding is subtle enough not to be noticed by everyone but only those in the know.

One of the most debated questions in fashion is the environmental impact of the industry. An industry in transformation, to avoid increasing pollution, better late than never. Alexander McQueen already referenced this important topic in his spring-summer 2009 collection. Named “Natural Dis-tinction/Un-natural Selection“ the designer took the position of an environmentalist. He artistically referenced the Darwinist concept “Survival of the Fittest”. This particular dress is part of the latter part of the show, representing the negative impact of the 21st century on evolution. The dress is not seen in the show, but between looks 27 to 32, the print is seen on and off again. 

Very Y2K and perfect for 2023 is this wrap skirt. With different length and layers the skirt is getting an interesting look, appearing more streamlined and clean than romantic and playful. The mix of different hues from red to bright pink is a bold statement and perfect for the transformation of trends. Also, it could fabulously be styled over pants, or for the very bold ones maybe even as a wrap top.

Comfortable or a fashion statement? With these red pants both options are available. A tie closure makes these pants perfect for lounging around at home but they can as easily be dressed up for a day out and about, with a chunky knit or shirt – the options are basically endless, as the classic pants are elevated with their crimson color and a knee-high slit in the front, while still giving an interesting structure to the look.

A classic light blue blouse couldn’t be any less boring, due to the expertise of Ann Demeulemeesters design team. The sleeves are too long as is the shirt itself, almost passing as a mini dress. Pleats are added in the back as well as to the cuffs, creating a wide swinging back and puffy sleeves. Even the front is decorated with some pleats, putting the button strip center stage.

This cocktail dress by Prada does what Prada does best: surprise in a typically dramatic manner. Created of the most luscious satin in a bright turquoise the color alone is a statement. An integrated boned bustier is giving the wearer shape as well as security. Furthermore, this detail is subtly showing at the neckline, giving the dress a sexier look. At the front a deconstructed rose is added combined with a subtle bustle at the back to give the dress a certain degree of grandeur. This garment is perfect for a modern-day Marie Antoinette.
