MARKETING, FASIHON & ART
Gotten back into the swing of things? Now that offices will remain open for the foreseeable future, it is time to consider an update to the work wardrobe. No matter if the hours remain flexible and time is split between home office and days spent at the office, some occasions still require it to dress up. Some offices still might be very strict in their dress code, while others do casual Friday every day. New terms have been coined – instead of business casual we now opt for power casual – where business meets leisure clothing.
KENZO
Shown in Paris in the fall 2007 this showstopping blazer is made for those who love a big entrance. The shoulders are not padded but adorned with many massive ruffles, beautifully framing the face. On the runway the cropped jacket was paired with a matching skirt, shoes and bag, all in houndstooth. These also could look great with jeans, a pencil skirt or just black pants.
DOLCE & GABBANA
2002 – 2003 was the height of the vests and matching jackets for Dolce & Gabbana – barely any look on the runway was not showing this or one of their signature body hugging dresses. This year, going into the next, not only are vests back but as well is this piece reaching vintage status. The beautiful combination made of tweed can be worn as an ensemble or apart from each other.
GIANNI VERSACE
A vintage corset created by Gianni himself is perfect for the revival of the noughties. The black garment has woven in white pinstripes, providing a seriousness to an otherwise flirty top. For all the lovers of practical garments the piece is closed with a full-length zipper at the side, instead of the only decorative buttons in the back – easy access and very comfortable.
MIU MIU
Miu Miu is known for its flair of the feminine-dramatic and this skirt is no exception. A black taffeta is stiff enough to keep the skirt in shape, from the deep pleat at the center to the pockets at the side.
NINA RICCI
Nina Ricci created this leopard print statement piece around the 80s. A harsh waistline is combined with a hear shaped neckline creating a structured yet very feminine cut. With its copper-metallic colouring the garment is overall sweet to look at as well as having a don’t mess with me attitude.
YVES SAINT LAURENT
Saint Laurent did it again and created an astonishing stapel. The usually classic black blazer has been upgraded for the fall/winter 2010 collection with inserts of clear plastic film. By a strategic placement it is possible to wear the jacket without anything underneath to show some skin or style it in a myriad of other ways. This creation is very unique and recognisable, yet wearable for not only the most fashion forward.
VINTAGE BLOUSE
A crisp, short sleeved, collared shirt is made very soft and feminine with embroidery anglaise details. The ultra-lightweight material is made for a laid back and relaxed summer look, no matter if buttoned up for a more proper appearance or worn open as a cover up over a bikini.
ELLERY
The blue midi dress is a shape wonder. Beeing straight in cut the wave like lines are created at the seams, seelve and neckline. Due to the stiff material the garment will keep its shape, while also showing off the details in its design beautifully and to the fullest extend.
YSL RIVE GAUCHE
This vintage gem from YSL Rive Gauche is for late Victorina inspired, due to the button-up sleeves. The dainty buttons are responsible for the more puffed up look at the upper arm. Also the blue stripes on a white base fit in the period, as does the high neckline. To make it more contemporary a big cut out was added – juxtaposing different times and design standards.
MARC JACOBS
A blue coin purse style bag by Marc Jacobs – the summer escort you didn’t know you needed. The heavy chain is very in the now while the overall slouchy style of the purse fits to the emergence of big bags. Made of soft leather died petrol blue the bag is a bright and happy accent point for every summer outfit.
SERGIO ROSSI
A pair of patent leather red high heels is a classic. The almond shaped toe, the heel-height and the fire engine red colour are all the needed ingredients to create a shoe that will never go out of style.
GUCCI
Why carry all your belongings to the office in a boring bag when you can also do it in a roomy it-bag?
LOEWE
Something more fun than the classic white shirt is this asymmetric number by Loewe.
