You prefer the classic things that will stand the test of time. In a timeless approach to dress, you will not stray away from a little black dress and red lip, even for Christmas. Long before the holidays the vintage Champagne is chilled and you read a first edition classic after enjoying a homemade cacio e pepe – simple, sophisticated and all about the ingredients. Your standards in regards to quality are high, only the best of the best is allowed into your home.

LANVIN

Most likely one of the first lifestyle brands, the French heritage fashion house offered wallpapers, furniture and everything else that could be needed for a house in the 1920s art-deco era. Art-deco designs put a strong emphasis on the elegance of the form and high-quality materials. This can as well be found in another classic gown by Lanvin. A contemporary of Jeanne Lanvin, also highly focused on elegance, was Coco Chanel, the inventor of the little black dress. Both women ran big companies but had little in common in regards to their lifestyle choices. Lanvin focused on elegance and femininity, while Chanels’ style was sportier and more laid-back. Here the little black dress, introduced by Chanel seems to have gotten a Lanvin makeover: as classic as the short version, this garment can be worn over and over again. A statuesque look is created by this fully embellished, sparkling floor-length gown by heritage house Lanvin. Intentionally the waist does not show any sequins to form a flattering shape with the illusion of a slimmer waist.

Compared to Drop 001s Lanvin gown this one is more glamourous due to its embellishments yet cleaner in cut. When looked at the two side by side it becomes apparent, that the brand is never creating an overpowering look.

CHANEL

Chanel as a brand is famously known for make-up, skincare and most of all perfume. The classic Chanel No. 5 was composed by Coco Chanel herself and initially introduced in 1921. It is rumored that to this day, every 30 seconds a bottle of the scent is sold. To pack all the cosmetic essentials the brand of course also offers make-up pouches. Typically for the luxury Maison, these are as well created of luxurious materials and meet the highest quality standards of goods sold in the segment.

This example will fit all the essentials needed for a day out and carry them in style. The small pouch is made of leather and smartly features a water-resistant lining, so even if something spills it is not ruined. The Caviar leather is resistant and durable, so no harm is done in throwing it in your purse before running off. It does show the intertwined CC-logo Chanel is known for in a prominent yet laid-back manner. If you keep it on your dressing table or in your bag, this little gem is for your personal enjoyment and signifies that you are focusing on every detail, even those often neglected.

LOEWE

JW Anderson doesn’t only create for his namesake brand but since 2013 is as well creative director for LOEWE. The Spain-based brand can look back at a 175-year-old history. The name stems from a German, whom visited a leather workshop in Madrid and started a collaboration with the owners. Back then the businessman was impressed by the quality and craftsmanship of the artisans. From that liaison sprung a brand still popular by those searching for design and craftsmanship.

These pearl-drop-earrings are clean and easy. A pearl is a symbol of femineity, beauty and luxury – all attributes we see in these beautifully crafted earrings. For years pearls have been attributed to preppies and housewives but especially in 2021 we can see a comeback in the jewelry industry. Now the pearl reaches a younger and more fashion-focused audience while still providing a classic look.

YVES SAINT LAURENT

As famous as innovative: Yves Saint Laurent founded a fashion house that has been known to create the unexpected. May it be “Le smoking suit” that first was taking its usual clientele aback to only later take the fashion world by storm or the famed Mondrian dress, seen in museums all over the globe. No surprise there, that the fashion house as well would introduce us to a bag of an unusual shape. A triangular bag is not new to fashion. A structured, pyramid-shaped bag on the other hand is a rare to be seen gem that will make a statement. InDrop 001wepresented a YSL Rive Gauche box bag with fringes and this time we found an as stunning structured piece. The minaudiere in a gold hue is the perfect companion for a lover of clean lines and design. The bag features the signature YSL on one front, while the other sides of the pyramid are left bare. Looking like a small sculpture thebagisprotected by standing on small feet, whenever the wristband will take some time off.

LANVIN

The 80s have been all about excess, materialism and big shoulders. Ruffles were en vogue and Princess Diana enjoyed her first days as a style icon. A straight or heart-shaped neckline has been a key signifier for 80s style evening attire as was a poufy bubble skirt. Combined with a perm, big earrings and sheer tights the look was complete.

Lanvin created this cocktail dress back in the 80s loaded with signifiers of the time. The ruffled sleeves and slight balloon-shaped skirt are paired with a square neckline. The 80s are present, without the over-the-top drama the decade has been so well known for. Buy one get one free never is something we will never promote here, except when we find a piece like this. The dress look is actually an illusion. The ensemble consists of a skirt and a Crop top, joined by buttons at the waist. Perfect for the post-Christmas time the bottom half can be worn as a sexy wrap skirt and the top can easily carry over to the summer with a skirt or pants. This particular garment could be imaged at the cast of Dynasty, may it be the original from the 80s or the new version currently on air – it stood the test of time.

GUCCI

For many luxury brands it is a serious challenge to fight counterfeits, met with much money, time and effort. Other brands see fakes as a marketing vehicle to raise brand awareness and aren’t completely unhappy about it – without admitting it of course. Some fakes are so poorly made that they can be detected within seconds, but others are of such a high quality, that even experts are barely able to tell the difference. Alessandro Micheles’ creations for Guccis’ spring 2018 collection raised many eyebrows by seeing bags boldly stamped “GUCCY”. Logomania is taken to the next level by this joke. The wearer surely will be looked up and down on the street by passersby who might know the brand but not every collection - it is a joke reserved for those in the know.

This gold bag was seen on look 2 in 2018. The long crossbody strap can be adapted, while the bag can pack more than the minimum. The gold and black coloring paired with the bold print create a statement bag. It might not necessarily be a classic piece but is a collectible that for sure will be a conversation starter at every social function.

FENDI

Fendi’s history began in the back then lap of luxury: the fur business. Today the brand is an all-round global luxury fashion player and one of the few fashion houses that still use real fur. Shearling is the material to watch this fall-winter season. Many handbags, shoes and jackets are decorated with this fluffy, winter-appropriate material. Why not fall back on a shearling bag that is a) by a house known for expert leather and fur usage as well as b) a second-hand model, as buying first-hand furs does feel out of touch.

This bag model is called the peekaboo, has been introduced in 2009 and by now is one of the classic bags by Fendi. One of the style’s best-known features is the division in two parts that form one bag when closed. In the micro size, one side is closed with a push button while the other side features a twist closure. As a very small bag it will not fit any phones made past the flip-phone era but comfortably carry all other needed essentials. The top handle can be opened, so the mini bag cannot only be worn on its own but also attached to a bigger bag as an accessory. This multi-talent will stay around longer than your Christmas tree, due to its classic shape and color.
