Last but not least a Christian Dior coat, from the era of John Galliano. This beautiful coat had a silk lining that didn’t stand the test of time and had to be exchanged. The design on the other had passed said test and is as elegant as ever. For a time at Dior that was known for opulence and extravagance, this piece is rather understated. Its tapered cut, reinforced by two pockets, beautifully shapes the body. The prominently featured covers of the pockets are reminiscent of the hip pads worn in France in the 18 century, in a modernized and flattering way. Overall the coat could be inspired as well by French menswear from the same period, some design inspirations from Marie Antionette's time cannot be denied. Not looking back so far in fashion history: fall 2009, ready to wear collection. The buttons of the here-to-be-seen coat allow us to estimate this garment around the aforementioned collection.
