Read it here first, the Gucci Indy is going to have a comeback. Everyone loves a top handle bag and as is the popularity for hobo bags the size of them is only growing. After smaller more regal bags, as for example the Gucci Jackie (shop here), softer bags are competing for the limelight. By now, the Indy is not on many people’s radars. This makes it one of the best and most sound investments. To avoid the price increases on the second-hand markets seen with bags as for example the Dior Saddle, the Fendi Baguette, and many more it pays off to be ahead of the curve.
The Indy, coming with a structured handle is very Gucci. The regal handles it is covered in soft leather, instead of being made of the signature Gucci Bamboo. Some sources state, the shape has been inspired by a steering wheel, but not of back than current supercars, but antique ones. Looking at the luxurious feel and meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship this could very well be true. To be sure, one could ask Frida Giannini who the creative director at the time, responsible for the famous piece.
Decorated with metallic metal plates the bag rose to fame, after being shown on the 2007 spring runway of Gucci. Followed by a big advertisement campaign the same year and the 2008 runway it became a fashion favorite.
Everyone is looking at glittering and shimmering handbags. The gunmetal grey handbag has a subtle glittering effect, that is not too overwhelming but just enough to set a statement.
